While homebodies by nature, we do regularly muster the single malt courage to go out into the world and experience music in the flesh, and so we now have a new segment to document these excursions – Where the Bus Pass Took Us. Our first one is the Heypenny show we went to on Wednesday. Get our review of it and check a couple of videos from the show.
Heypenny kicked off it’s latest tour (in support of the new album A Jillion Kicks – which we discussed here) at the Bishop on Wednesday night to a small but receptive crowd. Opening for local sensation Andy D, the Heypenny boys delivered a set that was a little heavier on slower melodic tunes than we’re used to seeing them do, but given the small crowd and early weeknight time of their set, felt right. They did of course bring the post-rock dance jams that they are best known for and through their own enthusiasm and energy managed to bring in most of the people hanging out on the bar side of the venue in to watch their set, become more engaged and more likely than not – become new fans.
