Our good friend Virgil Dickerson from Suburban Home Records returns with another pick for our weekly segment known so beautifully and simply as: Virgil’s Beer of the Week.

Our pal Frank Turner (who has a new album coming out June 6th that we’re very excited about btw) played the Knitting Factory last night and it was live streamed on the internet. Now generally we don’t encourage living in the past, but in case you missed it you can still watch it by going right here.
Frank’s tour continues on and on, check the dates below to see if he’s coming to your hood, although a ton of these shows are sold out – so you’ll have to look super cute and chat up the door guy to get in.
It was this day in 1967 that boxing champion Muhammad Ali refuses to be inducted into the U.S. Army and was immediately stripped of his heavyweight title. Ali, a Muslim, cited religious reasons for his decision to forgo military service. We pay musical tribute with our other favorite Ali. Check it below.
Our pals over at History.com let us know that it was this day in 4977 B.C., that the universe was created. At least according to German mathematician and astronomer Johannes Kepler, considered a founder of modern science.
Now I’m sure there are political opponents to the universe who would demand to see the birth certificate, but seems as good a day as any to celebrate, no?
