Where the Bus Pass Took Us

While homebodies by nature, we do regularly muster the single malt courage to go out into the world and experience music in the flesh, and we document these excursions in Where the Bus Pass Took Us.

Last night we found ourselves back at Bloomington’s best venue, The Bishop, for another night of rock and roll via the Panic Strikes a Chord album release party – with Throwing Stars and Hard Candy Hearts.  We grabbed video of all three bands for your enjoyment, check them out below.

First up was Hard Candy Hearts who brought their tribal swamp blues to the stage.

They were followed by Throwing Stars, who played a set heavy on new material, which we caught two songs of along with a performance of their new single “Murder Yourself.”

Closing out the night was the triumphant album releasers themselves, Panic Strikes a Chord who not only played most of the new album, but threw in a cover, some newer-than-the-album songs and even a verse from main PSAC-er Jeremy Brightbill’s old band Tremendous Fucking’s “Every Fucking Time I Believed In You” during “Blackout Musik,” which we luckily caught.

We here at PE love all three of these bands, and in fact you can check out our various forms of former love for them here, here and here. It was a great show slightly marred by the torrential downpour/tornado happening outside keeping some people away, but a still impressive number of folks knew this show was more fun than hiding in a basement and braved the tempest to celebrate the release of Panic’s Accidents In A Very Busy Place.  You can pick up your copy of the album from Higher Step Records here.
