Our good friend Virgil Dickerson from Suburban Home Recordsreturns with another pick for our weekly segment known so beautifully and simply as: Virgil’s Beer of the Week.
We took last week off, but Virgil is making up for it in style with the scoop on 8 different beers.
We’re doing a cool little thing with The Atlas, our local whiskey and skeeball joint. Once a month we’re slipping a mix into their jukebox with a series we’re calling An Atlas Themed Mix (For An Atlas Themed Bar).
Volume 5 is themed around America, and we planned on posting this on the 4th of July for complete synchronicity, but we were partying and forgot. Check out our American Music below.
Today we talk with Portland, OR based indie folk artist Jessi Adele – aka Lone Valkyrie – about her writing process, dealing with stage fright and her debut album.
As you may recall from our post back on June 1st, Portland, Oregon songwriter Matt Sheehy‘s was running an incredibly clever Kickstarter campaign to help fund the release of his Lost Lander album. We’re happy to say that the campaign was a success, and we’re sure that has a lot to do with the faux pledge drive that Sheehy ran via video installments on his page (also the tunes are pretty righteous too). Check out all six of the hilarious pledge drive videos below, and the first single “Cold Feet” right here.
We Never Asked For This is our short review of a band who thought (or their label/manager/agent/girlfriend thought) that it would be a good idea to send us an email saying “like me! like me! like me!” (more or less).
Today’s blind submission is from Philadelphia based project New West.
Friend of the blog (you might remember her interview with us a few months back) Melissa Ferrick has a new album called Still Right Here coming out this September – but the good people over at Paste.com have a free download of the title track available right now. It’s like Christmas in July – or whatever September holiday – it’s like Labor Day in July! Grab the track by going here and clicking a few more things.

This week, Virgil brings you Green Flash’s Le Freak Belgian Style IPA.
Our good buddy William Elliott Whitmore has a new album, Field Songs, out today on Anti-Records. You should go buy it (available here) but if you’re stuck at work for a few more hours, why not check out the full album stream happening over at Paste.com? We’ve listened to it four times in a row already and are loving the hell out of it. While you’re at it, why not check out all of our WEW related posts – including his short lived advice column he ran for us – right here.
