You may have noticed that we’re not posting much lately. Been outside trying to get the last good days of summer under our skin. But luckily for all of us, beer never sleeps, and our good friend Virgil Dickerson from Suburban Home Recordsreturns with another pick for our weekly segment known so beautifully and simply as: Virgil’s Beer of the Week.
This week, Virgil brings you Denver Beer Company’s Graham Cracker Porter.

While trolling the internet for new tunes, our own Postcard ChaCha happened across the latest from legendary studio player and member of the Blues Brothers band, Steve Cropper. Check out her thoughts on it and some samples below.
While homebodies by nature, we do regularly muster the single malt courage to go out into the world and experience music in the flesh, and we document these excursions in Where the Bus Pass Took Us.
Country music fan Reginald Spears was arrested over the weekend for merchandise tampering at a Super Walmart. Reginald was arrested for shoplifting, but what he was actually doing was opening up mainstream Country CDs (like Rascall Flatts and Taylor Swift) and replacing the discs with older Country discs from his personal music collection. Fresh out on bail, Mr. Spears explained. “I didn’t shoplift nothin’. I told the cops they could find all that country pop bullshit in the Rubbermaid garbage cans in home wares… where that crap belongs,” said Spears.
Oh yes, this man is a hero and so is our very own Virgil Dickerson (beer lover and owner of Suburban Home Records). Virgil has an amazing post about Mr. Spears act of bravery and an equally amazing offer of gratitude. Check it out here.

We stumbled across this new song-a-week project that singer-songwriter Phoebe Spier is undertaking, and we dig the hell out of it. Both her take on what has become a somewhat popular project for singer-songwriters, her voice-over narration at the beginning explaining why she wrote the song really grabs us immediately, and the quality of Spier’s work in general make us declare this to be worthy of reposting and sharing with all ya’ll. So enjoy, and be sure to subscribe to her You Tube page here.
