We Never Asked For This – Korps

We Never Asked For This is our short review of a band who thought (or their label/manager/agent/girlfriend thought) that it would be a good idea to send us an email saying “like me! like me! like me!” (more or less).

Today’s blind submission is the latest from Gulcher Records, “Hello World!” by Korps.

A reissue of Korps one and only album, “Hello World!” is a treasure of weird and wacky rock & roll; pulling from the best qualities of the 70’s proto-punk movement and combining them with the fun loving straight ahead pop ambitions of the best garage rock.  Most notable as a theme to the album though is the sense of goofball fun that runs throughout. Imagine if you will a more Stooges influenced Dead Milkmen or Mojo Nixon and you’re getting close to the undeniable attraction of Korps.  It’s catchy, it’s fun, it’s great and you probably need it in your life. Check it out here.
