Today is another Bandcamp Friday, which is the best time to do some sampling and shopping of indie music on the site.
Bandcamp launched their Bandcamp Fridays program back in March as a way to support artists impacted by the pandemic by waiving all of their normal revenue share fees. In the six Bandcamp Fridays since the launch they and the music fans using the site have put more than $20 million directly into the pockets of indie artists and labels, which is pretty damn impressive.
Bandcamp has always been the best thing going as far as supporting artists in an ethical way (as opposed to streaming which pays artists fractions of a penny per play) and Bandcamp Friday is just another example of good people with their heads and hearts in the right place, which is a rare truffle like treat in the music industry.
