This stunner from Pennsylvania artist Roger Harvey is written from a first person perspective of the storming of the US Capitol earlier this month. Harvey’s excellent band includes Mike Brenner of Magnolia Electric Co / Songs: Ohia.
“Overture” by Personal Space combines the midwest emo mathy noodling of American Football with the vocal melodies of XTC and hot damn does it work. For a genre that eschewed hooks for complex rhythms and a multitude of guitar chords per song, “Overture” proves you can do both and do it very, very well.
