The B-Side: Spoon and the Forkestra

Brooding and beautiful, hypnotic and unexpected, “The Flaws of Attraction” swirls and envelopes like a less icy Portishead. Whereas Geoff Barrow and Beth Gibbons work in heartbreak and a cold palette, Spoon and the Forkestra‘s Emily-Mae Lewis and Timo Zell give us the same cinematic level drama in warm shades flush with pumping blood and glowing embers. Largely due to the inherent richness of Lewis’ voice, but the production and instrumentation of the track also make it feel a more approachable human endeavor.
