The debut album from SoCal punk legends Agent Orange turns 40 this year, and Living in Darkness remains one of the most influential albums of that era. Seamlessly fusing skate punk, surf rock and hardcore, the album showed that punk could be pushed beyond the relatively limited sound of the time and still be absolutely, 100% punk. They helped expand the possibilities of an entire genre, and that alone is reason enough to revisit this classic. Lucky for us, a special 40th anniversary edition has been available from Posh Boy Records for two years. Whether that’s due to poor impulse control on behalf of the label or proof that time travel is real, it’s still a win we’ll take.
