Tuesday Tip-Off: Samantha Crain

It’s no secret that we here at PE love Samantha Crain, so it shouldn’t be hard to imagine our delight when she announced on ye olde social medias that she has a new EP on the way. The criminally underrated singer-songwriter’s I Guess We Live Here Now will be out April 9th (available for pre-order now) and you can, nay – you WILL, check out the first single “Bloomsday” in pure audio form above, or in that crazy newfangled music video format below.

The B-Side: Joshua Worden

We love a song that doesn’t neatly fall into any specific genre, but still sounds effortless and undeniable. Such is the case with “Alright” by Joshua Worden. Not quite chillwave, not really a pop song, not exactly indietronica R&B but also at the same time all of these things and more. There’s a sparseness and repetitive nature in the verse vocals that provide a somewhat mantra like effect, but the straight forward thumping bass and vocal harmonies keep things grounded and moving forward. One of the more interesting (without trying to sound interesting) pop songs we’ve received this year.
