Clementine Was Right’s latest record, Lightning & Regret, is “made of nine songs about loss and tacos on two coasts.” OK I’m listening. The guitar hook that starts off “Nazarene Sheen” sounds like a glass of big dry red wine. More please. Then the lyric “First learned to freebase when she was 13, Nazarene drives a school bus…” I’m in.

The B-Side: CHILLEMI
“Friend” from LA based CHILLEMI (aka Brian Chillemi of Rose Cologne) saunters through your speakers like an old acquaintance. Part Lee Hazelwood, part Kurt Vile, part acoustic Beck – there’s a familiar somber yet wry vibe throughout. It’s Americana with a reverby cinematic feel, pensive with a hint of brooding, and a perfect soundtrack to anyone out there with a serious case of the Mondays.
