LaPara – “Traballa”
From Bologna, Italy we have this delightful slice of bedroom lo-fi pop that keeps things simple and tasteful, with a great vocal melody and a steady uptempo beat. Layers come in and out to give dynamics, but all in service to the song, a catchy head nodder and toe tapper.

Soleil Bleu – “Le Navire”
We know it’s a bit of a stereotype that all things French are sexy, mysterious and tortured, but then Soleil Bleu drops “Le Navire” to make you wonder if maybe the stereotype is true after all. A slinky, moody indie pop number, it moves like lovers in the night.

Freedom Fry featuring Jean-Luc Eldenwood – “La Metamorphose”
Also from France, and also bringing us a female / male duet is Freedom Fry with Jean-Luc Eldenwood with a song that is more strut than slow dance. There’s the bass line that kicks things off, the syncopated backbeat, the jazz organ, the electric piano, all creating a soundtrack for a different type of sexy. This is stepping out in new kicks and feeling yourself music.

Shirman – “Ensaan (featuring Sanamika)”
Now based in Italy, Iranian composer Shirman brings his global perspective to the trip-hop song “Ensaan” to create something new entirely. The normally dark and introspective undertones associated with the genre are replaced with bright melodies, bell like keys and a squirrelly bass line that grooves in the light rather than rumbles in the shadows. Floating above it all are the vocals of Sanamika, which burst with life and joy.
