The B-Side: Caley Conway

Milwaukee’s Caley Conway follows up last year’s collection of Christmas standards with “I Love You So Much I Don’t Want to See You,” a song that swings and sways like the spring winds blowing in. Conway has gotten quite a bit of love from the roots world in the past (No Depression said she was “the next big thing in folk music”) but this one has more than a touch of a classic shoegaze influence to it, sounding at times like the quieter parts of Slowdive. We know genres are fluid things, and the Americana world in general has incorporated more and more elements of indie rock over the years, and that’s definitely evident in this song. But why split hairs? It’s a great tune and whether you consider yourself a No Depression or Under The Radar type, you’ll dig it.
