The B-Side: John Murray

Landing somewhere between The National’s Matt Berninger’s smoky baritone and the humorous plain spoken poetry of Silver Jews/Purple Mountains David Berman is John Murray‘s “Oscar Wilde (Came Here to Make Fun Of You).” It’s an easy stroll of a song through a gallery of lyrical imagery and the kind of natural songwriting we could use more of these days. No big hook, no repetitive chorus beaten to death, just a mood that envelopes like the best kind of short story.
