Tuesday Tip-Off: The Blue Stones

So a thing that we at little old PE have started doing is gravitating away from the polished, the slick, the ready for mainstream radio and placement in an Applebee’s commercial songs. Take that shit to American Express Presents Pitchfork.com (A Subsidiary Of Raytheon) and give us the weird, the inventive, the raw, the real.

However.

Sometimes a song is just undeniable to the point that even we have to curmudgeonly give it props no matter how sleek and shiny it is, and “Don’t Miss” by The Blue Stones is such a song. From the staccato vocals that grab you up top to the simple but simply perfect riffs that run throughout, this song is that popular jock that is so damn likable even the hoodlums have to put some respect on it. Is it over produced with all the interesting rough edges sanded off by algorithms and possibly a marketing study focus group? You’re goddamn right it is, but yet here we are, sharing it with you in all of its high gloss catchiness.
