Wordless Wednesdays

Wordless Wednesdays is our column where we spotlight the best new instrumental tracks.

We’ve all lived through the lead up to the mid-term election and all the yadda yadda blah blah that comes with it and we think you deserve a break from words both true and not-true-but-pretending-to-be-true. Kick back with the latest from 1104 Millions, As Clouds Form and Sebastian Müller.

“The Stranger” by 1104 Millions is a good track to kick off this week’s instrumental buffet as it gives us a little bit of everything. Percolating synths, a minimalist off kilter beat, elements of soundscape, a piano breakdown – all working together to create a track that groves and moves and gets it all done in under two and a half minutes.

As Clouds Form take a different approach to ye olde no vocals composition and give us a deep and warm sonic bath to float in with “Hollow.” Sounds blend and blur together without noticeable edges and give us the sensation of meditation and traveling to a different state of consciousness.

UK ambient artist Sebastian Müller gives us “As Far As The Eye Can See” and fittingly for a song sight, a music video to boot. A slow and gradual build that swells to a throbbing, pulsing thing that feels alive and organic. It feels like a distillation of time and life itself, a sensation that is strengthened by the simple but compelling video.
