Rearview Mirror is our annual look back at the year in music from our friends in and around the business. Musicians, managers, roadies, superfans, bloggers etc..
This recap comes from Aaron Distler, drummer for Heypenny, Kyle Andrews and Madi Diaz and details a year where he stopped caring about the hottest new music because he was too busy making his own.
Friends of the PE, Heypenny have released their new record Tendre today for free on the internets, and to mark the occasion they shot this gorgeous video for the lead single “LaLaLoud.” Grab your free copy here and meet us back here in a week to read our review of said album and see if what you think and what we think will be “OMG I know right!??!” or “WTFUTAW?*”
While homebodies by nature, we do regularly muster the single malt courage to go out into the world and experience music in the flesh, and we document these excursions in Where the Bus Pass Took Us.
We’re doing a cool little thing with The Atlas, our local whiskey and skeeball joint. Once a month we’re slipping a mix into their jukebox with a series we’re calling An Atlas Themed Mix (For An Atlas Themed Bar).
Volume 2 is themed around Roadways – streets, avenues, highways, etc…and for those of you farther than a responsible cab ride from The Atlas – you can check it out below.
We didn’t go to SXSW this year, but a lot of people we know did. We’ve thrown out the invitation for them to document their experiences here, in a little segment we’re calling SXSWland Tales.
This Austin experience recap comes from PE bff Aaron Distler of the band Heypenny.
While homebodies by nature, we do regularly muster the single malt courage to go out into the world and experience music in the flesh, and so we now have a new segment to document these excursions – Where the Bus Pass Took Us. Our first one is the Heypenny show we went to on Wednesday. Get our review of it and check a couple of videos from the show.
Can it be a tip-off if we’ve talked about the band several times before? Who cares? Heypenny has a new album coming out next week and a tour to support it, so we want to make sure you know about it. Check out our review and hear the first single below.
