This Day In Music History

One year ago today we lost singer-songwriter and visual artist Daniel Johnston. Johnston’s earnest and almost childlike songs won him a legion of devoted fans, including Kurt Cobain who described him as the “best songwriter on Earth.” The 2005 documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston detailed Johnston’s lifelong battle with bi-polar disorder and how it effected his music and art. Here is a great short set from Johnston for the NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert series.

PJ Harvey Loves You

To mark the release of her new album Let England Shake, PJ Harvey will debut her new album live in a one-off, special show from Paris on Monday February 14th.

For those of us unable to make it to the city of lights for this special Valentine’s Day treat, the show will be streamed live on the internet.  And thanks to the time difference we can enjoy it while sitting at our day jobs!  Hurray! Getting paid minimum wage to watch PJ!
