Jared Thompson is perhaps best known for being, along with his wife Dayna and their son Max, owner of The Comedy Attic. But before becoming a comedy empresario, Jared fronted the hardcore band The Witchcraft Season and was an independent promoter of rock & roll shows. He remains an impassioned music supporter and as seen above, occasional Live Band Karaoke contestant. Check out his picks for the best of 2011 below.

As we’ve mentioned before, we’re not posting much, and we apologize for that. Editor got a new job that’s sucking up all of his time and ChaCha underwent major surgery (she’s fine, thanks for asking) and the combination of the two has put PE in the slow lane of late. But we’ll keep bringing you the good stuff when we can, and this is no exception. Editor attended the comedy and music variety show known as It Still Bleeds last night at The Comedy Attic and caught video of all the musical performers: Heinous Orca rocking out as the house band, and Jason Evans Groth and EA Strother each playing two brand new never before heard songs. All of which is below the jump.
It was on this day in 1980 that Ian Curtis, lead singer and lyricist of the British group Joy Division, committed suicide. The biggest Joy Division fan we know is local comedian Jon Hancuff (perhaps proving the old adage that all comedians are tortured souls inside?) so we asked him to write about what Curtis meant to him.
