We Never Asked For This – Heather Trost

We Never Asked For This is our short review of a release that showed up in our inbox unsolicited.

On “Love It Grows” Heather Trost trades in the eastern European and Balkan folk of her group A Hawk and a Hacksaw for a psych drenched 60’s pop sound that hits like the coolest track on a collection of reissued rarities from the Summer of Love. From the hypnotic cooing vocals to the fuzzed out bass to the all toms drum part to the verse in French to the inevitable sitar this track is pitch perfect in every way. “Love It Grows” is the first single off the full length Petrichor, due November 6, 2020 via Third Man Records.
