Today we catch up with old friend of the blog Jeremy Brightbill to find out about his move to Louisville, KY and how the work is progressing.
Late great noise rockers Tremendous Fucking just put together a little video clip for the hidden track off their third album More Blood In The Monitors – we’re assuming for both shits AND giggles. And while it’s short and simple, it still rocks and warrants sharing. You can check it out below, and fingers crossed, maybe this means they will make an all-star video for “Straight Out Of Bloomington” the hidden track on their debut album How’s My Fucking.
While homebodies by nature, we do regularly muster the single malt courage to go out into the world and experience music in the flesh, and we document these excursions in Where the Bus Pass Took Us.
Last night we found ourselves back at Bloomington’s best venue, The Bishop, for another night of rock and roll via the Panic Strikes a Chord album release party – with Throwing Stars and Hard Candy Hearts. We grabbed video of all three bands for your enjoyment, check them out below.
This morning’s musical year in review comes to us from Jeremy Brightbill, guitarist of the late Tremendous Fucking and mastermind behind the long running Panic Strikes a Chord. Despite all this rockitude, Jeremy is known for his love of hip-hop and his picks of 2010 reflect this in a big way. Check it out before you wreck it out. Or something.
Bonus Christmas Eve post because you’ve all been so good this year.
Check out the music year in review from our buddy Patrick – lead singer of the late and great Tremendous Fucking. He may not be screaming in your face these days, but he still loves the rock and roll and he loves his brother Rick. Take a gander at the sweet mix CD he made for his number one brosef and for a brief moment pretend that you too are part of their Family O’ Rock.
The mix is heavy on local bands, and so as our Christmas gift to you we found a video for every local band included and inserted it into the post. Everyone except Hard Candy Hearts, who are too handsome to be captured on film. It was almost impossible to find videos of the specific songs Pat picked, but you will still get the idea.
Launching a new segment today. We emailed several of our rock and roll friends and asked them to compile either the year or the decade in review in music for us. Didn’t put any limits on having to be albums released or anything like that, just their personal musical moments.
First up is former Tremendous Fucking and current Outer Planets member Joe Stone. Let’s see what he did the last three six five.
Not in the face! Not in my beautiful face!
History.com tells us that it was this day in 1972 that the Watergate burglars were arrested. Curious as to how we’re going to connect this to something music related? Us too!
Thanks to The History Channel’s website, we’re on a serious “This Day in History” kick. Did you know that on this day in 1940, 22-year-old Carson McCullers’ first novel, The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter, was published?
Carson McCuller - Literary bad ass.
Curious as to how we’re going to tie this back into a music related post? Read on lonely hunters!
Under appreciated masters of noisy chaos and pummeling beauty Tremendous Fucking recently called it a day with the release of their farewell e.p. Power Down. Accompanying that e.p. was a web-series of videos, one for each song, which you can find here.
One of our favorites was this gem, probably because it features the greatest summertime sport of them all – beerball.
